What types of referral forms are accepted?
All medical imaging referral forms are accepted at Fowler Simmons Radiology.
How long is my referral period valid for?
General Practitioner (GP) referrals remain valid for one year. If your referral form includes more than one service, kindly contact our team for further assistance.
For specialist referrals, it is recommended to consult our team, as the valid timeframes may vary.
Do I have to have a referral to receive a scan?
All services offered at Fowler Simmons Radiology require a referral form prior to the scan.
Do you offer walk-in services, or is it strictly by appointment?
Starting from 8:00 AM, we provide walk-in x-ray. Please note that there might be a brief wait for walk-in services.
Some services have a waiting period – what is the reason for that?
Certain medical imaging services may involve a wait time for appointments. Our team is dedicated to securing appointments for patients as promptly as possible.
How long is an appointment typically?
The duration is determined by the type of scan needed. When you make a booking, our team will provide you with an estimate of the approximate time your procedure will take.
What is the reason for requiring the referral before my MRI?
To ensure the accuracy of your scheduled MRI and meet your doctor's specifications, we request your MRI referral in advance of your appointment. Not all MRI scans are identical, and this practice ensures that we book you at the suitable location and allocate the necessary time for your specific scan. You can also verify the cost of the MRI.
Am I allowed to bring another person into the procedure room?
Apart from the pregnancy scans, any accompanying support individuals will need to wait outside or in our reception area during your appointment. If you have any concerns or questions, please contact our Fowler Simmons Radiology practice.
Why have I been told to fast before my appointment and what does that mean?
For certain scans and procedures, it is necessary to abstain from consuming any food, water, or other beverages for a specific period before your appointment. Our team, during the booking process, will verify and provide you with information on these requirements, including any considerations related to existing medication or diabetes.
Am I allowed to discuss my images with my radiologist?
Your results will be directly forwarded to your GP. To access these results, please consult your GP. However, we can provide you with a copy of your imaging.
Can my report be sent to another doctor?
We send your reports to your referring GP, however, we can also send them to another doctor of your choice if we can locate their details on our system, which we usually do.
When do I receive my results?
Usually, your referring doctor will receive your reports in 2-3 working days. We work hard to produce your reports as soon as possible.
Can I use private health insurance to cover the cost of the procedure?
No. Private health insurance only assists covering fees if you are admitted as an inpatient.
How much are pregnancy exams?
